Gold Arts Award - Reconstructing Memories
The Workshop
Reconstructing memories was a workshop I ran at John Hansard Gallery where I invited members of the public to come in and have fun with my own perosnal photographs. They had the ability to cut, draw, paint, do whatever they wanted to my images and just have fun. The aim was to have others morph images from my past and change how I viewed them while creating completely fabricated images. There was no limit on age and I encouraged all of those who took part to be as creative as they wanted.
I would like to say thank you to John Hansard Gallery for helping me bring this part of my GAA to light along with Leandro Alenfel for his incredible support on the day helping to deliver the workshop. Without your help and support Leo this would not have gone as well as it did.
This page is here to present the work that was made during the workshop and celebrate the creativity of those that made it a success.
THe outcomes
Below are the fantastic results of the workshop from those that took part. My favourtite part of all of it was seeing the creativity in peoples responses and what they would do with my images. The use of colour also came across as an added element of fun for people along with the destruction of photographs. Overall I was extremely impressed with everyone that came in and I hope to be able to do something like this again in the future.
group images
The last two images here are the group photos that I had available on the day that were for everyone to add to. Across the workshop they slowly developed into these masterpieces. Visitors had the option to paint, draw and collage on top of the images that were around A2/ A1 in size. Meaning there was plenty of room to add to the original image. The combined imaginations of adults and children are on display here and its a joy to see, ‘Crime Scene’ is my favourite.
